PROPOSED LANE USE

In addition to rehabilitating the pavement to create a long lasting smooth driving surface, new pavement markings will be installed along the corridor to provide enhanced bicycle facilities while maintaining on-street parking.

SOUTH MORELAND BOULEVARD - GRIFFING AVENUE TO SHAKER SQUARE

The image below shows the existing lane use typical section along South Moreland Boulevard.  The lane use consists of two vehicular through lanes in each direction, a dedicated parking lane along the curb and a grass center median with street trees. Turn lanes are provided at Buckeye Road and Drexmore Road.

This project will revise the existing lane use along South Moreland Boulevard from two through lanes in each direction with a dedicated parking lane along the curb, to a single through lane in each direction, a dedicated bicycle lane in each direction and a parking lane along the curb, as shown on the image below.  The dedicated bike lanes will be positioned next to the travel lanes. A door zone buffer will be striped between each bike lane and parking lane so motorists and passengers can open their doors without striking cyclists. The grass center median and street trees will remain.

NORTH MORELAND BOULEVARD - SHAKER SQUARE TO LARCHMERE BOULEVAD

The image below shows the existing lane use typical section along North Moreland Boulevard.  The lane use consists of two vehicular through lanes in each direction, a dedicated parking lane along the curb and a grass center median with street trees. Turn lanes are provided at Larchmere Boulevard.
